True Block Consulting

Questions?
Start here.

Cryptocurrency investigations can be unfamiliar territory. These answers explain how our services work, what blockchain analysis can and cannot do, and what to expect before an engagement begins.

Not sure which service you need? That's completely fine. Tell us what happened through our inquiry form and we can determine whether a consultation, blockchain investigation, report or monitoring service may be appropriate.
What does True Block Consulting do?

True Block Consulting provides cryptocurrency investigation and blockchain-analysis services designed to help individuals understand suspicious transactions, suspected scams and the movement of cryptocurrency.

Services may include scam assessments, blockchain tracing, investigation reports and ongoing monitoring of selected blockchain addresses.

What should I do if I think I have been involved in a crypto scam?

Preserve the information you currently have. This may include transaction records, wallet addresses, transaction hashes, screenshots, emails, messages and information about the platform or individual involved.

Avoid sending additional cryptocurrency simply because someone promises that another payment will release, unlock or recover previously transferred funds.

You can then submit an inquiry to True Block Consulting so we can review the basic circumstances and determine whether our services may be appropriate.

Can you recover stolen or lost cryptocurrency?

True Block Consulting does not guarantee or promise cryptocurrency recovery.

Blockchain analysis can help document where funds moved, identify relevant transaction paths and, where supported by available evidence, identify potential exchange or service touchpoints.

Whether funds can ultimately be recovered depends on circumstances outside our control, including the movement of the assets, available evidence, applicable legal processes and the actions of exchanges, authorities or other third parties.

Can you freeze, stop or reverse a cryptocurrency transaction?

No. True Block Consulting cannot freeze wallets, reverse blockchain transactions or prevent funds from moving.

Our role is investigative. We analyze available blockchain information, document relevant activity and provide findings that may assist you in understanding what occurred and preparing information for appropriate third parties.

Can you identify who owns a cryptocurrency wallet?

Not always.

A blockchain address does not automatically reveal the identity of the person controlling it. Analysis may identify transaction relationships or interactions with known services, exchanges or other entities where the available evidence supports that conclusion.

We distinguish between what the evidence supports and what remains unknown rather than presenting assumptions as facts.

What is blockchain tracing?

Blockchain tracing involves examining publicly available blockchain transaction data to understand how cryptocurrency moved between addresses.

Depending on the case, this can involve reviewing transaction hashes, wallet addresses, timestamps, amounts, transaction paths and interactions with identifiable blockchain services.

What is included in an investigation report?

The contents of a report depend on the scope of the investigation, but may include:

  • A summary of the situation
  • A chronology of relevant transactions
  • Wallet addresses and transaction identifiers
  • Transaction-flow explanations
  • Relevant investigative observations
  • Potential service or exchange touchpoints
  • Supporting blockchain information
  • Limitations of the available evidence

Reports are intended to organize complex information into a format that is easier to understand and may be useful when communicating with exchanges, platforms, legal advisers or appropriate authorities.

What information do you need from me?

You do not need to have everything organized before contacting us.

Depending on your situation, useful information may include:

  • A brief explanation of what happened
  • Relevant wallet addresses
  • Transaction hashes or transaction records
  • Approximate amount of cryptocurrency or funds involved
  • Dates or approximate timeframes
  • Relevant screenshots or communications
  • Information about exchanges, platforms or services involved
Do you need my seed phrase, private keys or wallet password?

No.

True Block Consulting will never ask for your seed phrase, recovery phrase, private keys, wallet password or authentication codes.

Your wallet remains under your control. Blockchain tracing does not require us to access your cryptocurrency wallet.

How much does an initial consultation cost?

An initial consultation is $145 USD.

The consultation gives us an opportunity to discuss your situation, review the information currently available and determine whether additional blockchain analysis, investigation or monitoring may be appropriate.

We generally review your initial inquiry before providing scheduling and payment instructions.

How much does a blockchain investigation or report cost?

Investigation and reporting work is quoted based on the scope and complexity of the case.

Pricing can depend on factors including:

  • The number of wallet addresses involved
  • The number and complexity of transactions
  • The blockchain networks involved
  • The complexity of the transaction trail
  • The amount of analysis required
  • The level of documentation or reporting required

Before paid investigative work begins, the scope, expected deliverables and pricing are agreed upon in writing.

How long does a blockchain investigation take?

The timeframe varies depending on the complexity of the transaction activity, the number of addresses involved, the blockchain networks being analyzed and the scope of the requested report.

Where investigative work is proposed, the expected scope and timing will be discussed before the work begins.

What is ongoing wallet monitoring?

Some cryptocurrency associated with an investigation may remain dormant before moving again.

When appropriate, selected public blockchain addresses may be monitored for qualifying new activity. If relevant activity occurs, it can then be reviewed in context.

Monitoring does not freeze, block or prevent transactions from occurring.

Can your findings be provided to an exchange, lawyer or law-enforcement agency?

Investigation reports can be structured so that relevant transaction information, timelines and findings are organized in a clear format that you may provide to appropriate exchanges, platforms, legal advisers or authorities.

True Block Consulting cannot guarantee how any third party will respond to or use information contained in a report.

Do I need to know which service I need before contacting you?

No.

If you are unsure whether you need a scam assessment, blockchain tracing, an investigation report or ongoing monitoring, select “Not Sure — I Need Guidance” on the inquiry form.

We can review the information you provide and determine what type of next step, if any, may be appropriate.

Important security reminder: Never provide True Block Consulting with your seed phrase, recovery phrase, private keys, passwords or authentication codes. We do not need access to your wallet to conduct blockchain analysis.
